Cellar & Packaging Technician

Masthead Brewing Company is a GABF and WBC winning brewery located in Downtown Cleveland, OH. We are looking for a hardworking and dedicated person to join our cellar and packaging team. Prior experience in a brewery is a plus, but not specifically required for the right candidate.

DUTIES

Take ownership of the entire kegging operation, including receiving empties from our distributor, cleaning with our Premier Stainless 5 head keg washer, filling kegs from the brite tanks, storing them in our cooler, and loading the distributor’s trucks with product.

Clean fermenters and brite tanks by following the company SOPs

Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the brewery, including floors, drains, blow off buckets, walls, etc.

Learn and/or have experience in cleaning draft line equipment

Sanitize fermenters, brites, hoses, etc by following the company SOPs

Assist on the canning line by performing fill weight checks, measuring dissolved oxygen levels, changing label rolls, loading the Paktech applicator machine, and palletizing finished cases

Actively participate in our Continuous Improvement Culture

Experience / qualifications:

A strong desire to work in the brewing industry

A 4 year degree in a science-related field is preferred, but not required

Aptitude and desire to learn

A safety-focused mindset

Forklift experience and qualification a plus

Bartender

• Full time; must be willing to work nights and weekends

We are hiring bartenders for our award winning brewery and restaurant in Downtown Cleveland! Since our doors opened in January 2017, we’ve built our brand and reputation as one of the nation’s best breweries, and our employees are key to that continued success. See below for this role’s responsibilities and qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in a high volume bar or restaurant

• Detailed knowledge of craft beer, as well as working knowledge of liquor, wine, cocktails and food

• Cicerone Beer Server Certification and TIPS on-premise training are a plus. If you aren’t currently certified and are hired, you must pass the tests within one month of starting.

• This role is only open to non-smokers.

• You must be able to work a minimum of 4 shifts per week between Tuesday and Sunday to be considered for employment.

• Open availability is a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES

• With our service model, the bartender is our guests’ main point of contact throughout their visit. As such, it is imperative that our bartenders always conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner, and ensure guests’ expectations are exceeded.

• Beer and drinks are considered a food product by our regulatory agencies, and as such, proper sanitation and food safe practices are required for all bar staff.

• Verify the identification and age of every guest and practice serving safe, responsible alcohol consumption in accordance with Ohio Liquor Laws.

• Take guests’ orders in a timely and accurate manner, and ensure every item ordered or removed from inventory is entered through the POS system.

Begin each shift with the knowledge of:

• Current menu items, including items that may affect allergies and intolerances

• Current beer list, including styles and ingredients

• Recipes for specialty cocktails, as well classic examples

• Ability to work as a part of a team with strong communication skills

• Other duties as assigned by management

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Duties include occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, and occasionally maneuvering up to 160 lbs.

• Able to stand and walk in excess of 8 hours.

• Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.

Barback/busser

We are looking for barbacks for our taproom to serve guests in a fun, positive environment! Attention to detail is a must as we strive to provide the ultimate guest experience.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Providing excellent customer service in a faced paced environment. Assisting peers in ensuring the total restaurant environment is clean and inviting. Following opening and closing checklists to ensure everything is setup and broken down to our standards. Making sure bar top and tables are kept clean and attractive. Clearing empty glassware and dirty plates from tables and bar top. Resetting tables completely and keeping bar top free of spills and garbage. Cleaning glassware, making sure that all glasses on shelf are “beer clean.” Assisting bartenders in keeping sufficient product stocked for normal business. Assisting bartenders in various tasks such as opening/closing duties, changing kegs, garbage and recycling, etc.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 28 per week

Line cook

Cook and prepare a variety of food products including Neapolitan style pizza, salads, vegetables, sauces and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils. All customer interactions, including taking orders, are performed by the bartenders to allow our kitchen staff to focus on preparing high quality food items.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 – 40 per week

Shift: Day shift; evening shift
